Shredding My Axe

Update 30th July 2018. Summer got too hot to sit in the office and practice guitar hooked up to the keyboard. I moved downstairs and started using a Yamaha THR10 Guitar Amp. I think it makes a pretty good, portable practice amp.

The latest BrainSpinach release is hopefully the first among many to include live guitar riffs…

The Classic Rock Show

I decided to invest more time into learning the guitar after rocking out at “The Classic Rock Show” (Jan 2018). A large proportion of the music I listen to includes lots of awesome electric guitar and so I decided that my music should too! I have been learning on my Yamaha Revstar RS820CR, using the digital effects amp on board a PSR-S970. The PSR feeds into Ableton via a Havit Ground Loop Noise Isolator (HV-X2) for clean recordings. I really like the Revstar, but haven’t really played many other guitars for comparison at this point TBH.

For on-line learning and tutorials I checked out both “Jam Play” and “Guitar Tricks” and opted for the latter, as it seemed more accessible to me as a newbie. I have also selected 3 books which I am slowly working through. I must admit that learning the guitar seems a lot less painful than learning the piano. They do say that the first cut is the deepest?
